My husband works in the nuclear industry so I understand how vital it is for our local economy and for the livelihoods of thousands of people. The nuclear industry is at the centre to our community and I support nuclear. No ifs. No buts.
I want nuclear jobs here in West Cumbria and am totally behind Sellafield and the local supply chain.
I’d like to see more contracts for work at Sellafield to go to local companies so that money stays here in our local economy. We need to keep the lights on and in an uncertain world we need to be able to have a reliable source of energy and I believe nuclear power is the answer.
A new nuclear power station at Moorside is a big opportunity to get the investment, growth and skilled jobs that we need. I want to see Moorside built and will do absolutely everything I can to make sure it happens. A new nuclear power station is an opportunity to get upgrades to our road and rail network to make sure that everyone benefits from the new investment.
I know what nuclear means to this community and it is about good jobs for today and good jobs for tomorrow. It is about giving the next generation of young people hope that they can have skilled, well paid jobs here in our local community.
